Receptionist/Admin Assistant with Ophthalmic Tech Support

Are you looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic healthcare team?Southwest Alberta Eye Centre is a solo practice modern professional specialist office in Lethbridge, Alberta providing comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmology (eye) care. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team-oriented support staff as a full time (minimum 30 hours per week), hourly paid, medical receptionist and administrative assistant to cover a maternity leave with the potential for a permanent position after the coverage period ends. This role will also involve ophthalmic technician responsibilities. The successful applicant should be well-organized, professional, hard-working, discrete with patient information, able to multi-task, and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Reception and Administrative Support:
    • Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a warm and professional experience.
    • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries.
    • Maintain patient records and update information in our system.
    • Assist with billing and insurance claims as needed.
    • Manage office supplies and assist in general office administration.
  • Ophthalmic Technician Support:
    • Assist with preliminary testing for patients, including visual acuity, tonometry, and other basic diagnostic tests.
    • Prepare patients for exams with the ophthalmologist and provide support during exams as necessary.
    • Ensure medical equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Must be a citizen of Canada or Canadian resident.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team-oriented attitude with a desire to learn.
  • Previous experience or an interest in ophthalmology or medical technology is an asset, but full training will be provided.
  • Must live in Lethbridge or surrounding area.
