Optician Instructor - Online and/or Face-to-Face

Stenberg College is currently seeking a Licensed Optician who can serve as a part-time Online Theory Instructor and/or Face-to-Face Lab Instructor in our Optician Program! This position is an exciting, multi-faceted role that will allow you to work within our team to help educate future Opticians across Canada.

We are seeking faculty for the following:

POSITION: Online Theory Course Instructor & Face-to-Face Lab Instructor

COURSE: Licensed Optician Program

LOCATION: Online and/or Face-to-Face Instructor (Surrey)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time online and/or Face-to-Face Instructor

COURSE DELIVERY SCHEDULE: Average of 25 hours per week.

COMPENSATION: $36-$40/hour

Who You Are:

  • Completion of an accredited Optician program.
  • Comfortable teaching online courses.
  • A Licensed and Practicing Optician with a minimum of three years’ experience in;

➢ Eyeglass Dispensing and/or

➢ Contact Lens Fitting

  • Understand the guidelines set out by the College of Opticians of British Columbia (COBC).
  • Passionate about investing in students and the Opticianry industry.
  • Automated Refraction is an asset.
  • Experience in Edging would be an asset.
  • Experience in fitting gas-permeable lenses an asset.
  • Completion of Adult Learning Certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and GSuite.
  • Strong communicator and problem-solver.
  • Demonstrates confidence, positivity, and a strong work ethic.

Stenberg College provides Instructors with a full curriculum for each course. A thorough orientation would take place prior to stepping into the online delivery classroom. Ongoing In Services and Teaching Support are providing. Prior teaching experience is an asset.
