Goals & Objectives of the Position:

  • Assist the doctor with patient care, including administering preliminary and diagnostic tests
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits
  • Assist with contact lens fittings and dry eye treatments
  • Assist with custom eyeglasses fittings
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens and eyewear care and maintenance
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records and referrals
  • Handle billing and insurance claims
  • Order contact lenses, glasses and supplies

Essential Abilities & Motivators:

  • Outgoing, caring personality who enjoys helping the doctor see patients to help them look their best and see clearly
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills
  • Ability to interact and work well with patients of all ages
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritize based on urgency
  • Proficient computer skills is essential, including knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Front desk or customer service experience in a medical office or optical setting is desirable
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and eye anatomy is beneficial

Education:

  • College or University education (preferred)

Experience:

  • At least 2 years experience preferred in an optical and/or an optometry clinic but open to train the right motivated potential new team member
