Southwest Alberta Eye Centre is a solo practice modern professional specialist office in Lethbridge, Alberta providing comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmology (eye) care. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team-oriented support staff as a full/part time, permanent ophthalmic technician.

This outgoing, personable employee will be expected to complete preoperative and postoperative diagnostic testing and perform patient-specific eye exams to support the surgeon. Computer skills are essential, including the use of electronic medical records software and diagnostic equipment located throughout the office. You will communicate with medical/surgical suppliers and technical support.

We require someone with superior communication skills. Experience with ophthalmology diagnostic tools such as biometry, fundus photography, topography, OCT, perimetry, slit lamp examination, basic eye motility, and related exam room testing is essential. A calm demeanour and patience with all ages including children and the elderly is required. A high school diploma is required. IJCAHPO COA, COT, or COMT certification preferred, and 1-2 years of experience in opticianry, optometry, or ophthalmology is strongly recommended.

This posting is for a permanent full/part time position and the applicant can start immediately. No evenings or weekend work is expected. Competitive compensation will be offered commensurate with experience and skills brought to the office. Full training support will be provided to the successful applicant including courses, in-service sessions with on-site diagnostic equipment providers, and meetings with pharmacy and medical suppliers and hospital representatives.
